ARTIST WEBSITES ANALYSIS
KATY PERRY https://www.katyperry.com/
VISUAL ELEMENTS ON HOMEPAGE
•Katy perry's website seems quite minimalistic, simple format, the colour scheme matches her new album 'Never really over' as its her with glowing skin and has a summer vibe to it as its closer to summer then a thick border which is a bright orange and its fluent throughout the homepage as it highlighys the sub titles of her page and theres a menu bar which is very simplistic. Firstly, her name is featured right at the top, is bold and has a permanent marker font but isnt so big. Theres a slide show of songs that Katy has been featured and the text below changes to tell you what the song is called and the fonts is very thin, quite mature for her website. Further down,Katys offical featured videos and has a seperate link to 'view all' which that link has more infomation as the homepage shows parts of the information which is repetitive . There isn't any infomation about herself, mostly about her music. Then moves onto the store, which shows three items then a view all button on a orange bar so it stands out to the audience, linking to a seperate page which is handy for the audience. Then theres photos  another slideshow of Katy's and ZEDDs  new music video, keeping summer vibe with the orange. Overall, the website portrays Kety Perry as a vibrant and happy person and having a positive effect on her auidence. She suit a younger audience as shes very bubbly and has a lot of excitement which relates to a younger audience.
•Theres a latest  news area and social media area which is commonly used on artist websites, which is positioned at the bottom.
Overall, the fonts are similar, as theres a different font for important titles then more smaller fonts so it seperate that format and making it clearer.

Shawn Mendes http://www.shawnmendesofficial.com/home
Visual effects:
•first comes up with new single (ad) which gives you an option to stream or download it then says contintue, giving it an easier access . Firstly, theres a self moving slideshow, colours are nude browns (maroon) and off white, like a spanish vibe as his album is senorita. It promotes album, which his face distorted with follwers which is very interesting but the tones of the picture mixes wellwith the overall theme of the homepage. option to download, has arrows so people can see his latest songs. Most of the top page is about his new alvum/single and nothing really about the artist. Tour dates (banner, slightly tilted), giving it like a celebration moment which seperates the section between his singles and his tour dates in the USA but its very simplistic and straight forward, which happens in most websites i've analysed. There are videos of shawn's new single and snippets, giving a taster to the audience which is a good promoting technique. It has a vintage filter which links well with the overall theme. Theres also updates and social media towards the bottom which is placed towards the bottom. His shop has a seperate link. Overall the homepage seems to be introductions of other pages on his website. Overall, Shawn Mendes seems to be more sheek, more artistic on his album and trying to relate his work to the summer season as its already summer.

George Ezra
http://www.shawnmendesofficial.com/home
•Homepage's theme is a black and white colour scheme and keeping it very simple which is very common on these websites. His name logo seems to be very hippy and relating to like Jimi Hendrix font (70s) and its all in lower case which is aesthetically pleasing. Firstly, theres a video of his new single which is places in the centre and is easily visible so the audience will be concentrating on that section. Theres a text box saying 'the new album -staying at Tamara's - listen now'.
The homepage lacks in photos of the artist, mainly focusing on the new single which is quite bland as most websites show the artists face and albums and previous works. The homepage is minimalistic and easier to worl with so younger people can easily see his new song and is easiky accessible.
The representation of the artist ismt really there as its focusing on his worl more than his self, and hes represented very stripped back and wants to put his music out there, rather than himself. However, you can findout where he goes for his travelling because he has a journal part on his menu bar.  Although, in the menu bar, there are a few photos of himself. There isnt really a biography of George Ezra, which is common on artist websites as fans may already know who they are but it maybe be found important to new fans to see who the artst is. His name is placed at the top of the page which is similar to the Katy Perry website and it sjows its his website.

Textual analysis music videos

Craft spells - After the moment
I chosen this text because it had a similar genre as I researched the song I am planning to do a music video on and I encountered this song on the recommendations on Spotify. Conventions of pop videos would be: perfomance/narrative,fast paced editing, lip syncing and mise-en-scene related on the genre and fitting in with the pop genre but this song seems very indie-pop, the lighting is dark and not very vibrant, its a narrative, during the video, he's remembering her, but he coughs up blood and gradully his memories become more vivid then he dies or passes out on the floor at the end. This video is mainly aimed at people going through a break up and maybe assuming that I'm a sad person or I like more emotional pieces but it has a slight beat to it. My video has overlays of previous footage and theres like a vintage/retro filter (flash back) and also a glitching effect. This video expects me to feel sympathy and trying to relate to that person. This isnt a typical pop video as its not as happy.
The social groups would be boy and girl as it focused on the break up and it mainly focuses on the male but you do see his ex-girlfriend.
Hazel English - control
I chosen this text because it had a similar genre as I researched the song I am planning to do a music video on and I encountered this song on the recommendations on Spotify. In this video, theres a lot of: mostly cuts, tracking shots and locations-> desert which is a exotic which fits into the pop video conventions. Theres establishing shots of the motel room. This music video is mostly performance and focusing on the artist as she walks/dances/lip syncing. Theres a bit of narrative, as she drinks a milkshake, explores then arrives to the motel, explores the desert, like a journey. This aimed at a younger audience that are happy and this would be listened to in a car journey. A lot of cuts, the tracking shots seem quite slow in it. The facial expressions seem serious but happy sometimes but its an upbeat song. Its hard to respond to this video as its mainly performance and she just seems neutral and shes just walking around and lip syncing. This is more pop than the other song, more up lifting, this is aimed at women more.

Geowulf - Don't talk about you
I chosen this text because it had a similar genre as I researched the song I am planning to do a music video on and I encountered this song on the recommendations on Spotify. This music video is mostly performance and focuses on the artist and the guitarist. The genre of the music video is dream pop/indie pop. Its located in a field and run down buildings. It has a VHS effect (retro 80s) which doesnt fit in with pop video conventions as pop is mainstream which is different to the rest of the videos I have analysied. I feel like this is aimed at teenagers 13-22 and females mostly. The video seems nt high production and has quirky transitions. Dramatic zoom ins which are similar to the song music vide I have chosen.

The Vamps Music Video

The vamps music video for 'somebody to you' ft Demi Lovato is 3 minutes and 18 seconds long. The video consists of performance and narrative but mainly performance. The narrative is hat the vamps are trying to get with these group of girls and they bond over sports and they attend their mini-concert at the end, so it's happy and positive which is what a pop video should be like. There's one main location was is a beach, however there are other locations which could be close proximity on the beach, the locations were: grass area to play football, volleyball on the beach, tennis courts, swimming pool, Demi Lovato on the car and the stage on the beach and also the beach house. You could argue that there are more locations as there are shots from day and night. The mise-en-scene is very positive and aimed at a younger audience, it's showing a youthful athletic as I said before with all the sports. The music video seems like its The Vamps holiday, with the beach and summer clothing. Demi Lovato's scenes seemed closed off from the vamps and she's sitting on a car but the camera shot made it seem unfocused around the edges, could mean she's a 'dream girl'. There are a number of camera shots, such as the worms eye, in the swimming pool scene where its looking up towards the girls and the lead singer in The Vamps as well as, an over the shoulder shot as he's walking on the beach then switches to POV when he's looking towards the sea. There's always are medium close up of the vamps as it's their song and at the start of the video, there is an establishing shot, of the sea with the introduction of The Vamps with bold bigger writing than Demi Lovato's font but that's because she's the featured singer. There's diegetic sounds of the waves at the start to.
